This 4-day programme provides an opportunity for headteachers to engage in professional debate discussion and thinking.
Leaders and teams have to cope with constant and accelerating change.
The 4 days will explore strategies around:
– Shaping the future whilst keeping feet firmly rooted in the ground and your head in the strategic vision
– Coping with increasing social complexity with ease and compassion whilst maintaining high standards
The programme includes a one-night residential at Hazlewood Castle, near Leeds. This is intended to give delegates the time and space to develop ideas and collaboration more deeply and intensively as well as provide a refreshing change of environment.
The programme will be delivered over four days including a residential at Hazlewood Castle.
Each day will be presented by an Outstanding Head Teacher who is exceptional in his/her field:
Day 1 – Friday, 8th November 2019 – The Bridge Inn, Walshford. 8.30am start
AM: Key note speaker: Mark Dent, Lingfield Education trust, Executive Head Teacher, School improvement Lead, Ofsted inspector.
Connecting the dots: Inspiring, engaging and shaping future readers
Creating a reading culture that promotes a love for reading
- Ensuring a sequential approach to reading
- Understanding how to monitor/evaluate to ensure it is creating the impact intended
PM: 2 Workshops: Sharing good practice in:

Deep dives, curriculum leadership and impact explored

A school defined by its curriculum through its understanding of what the locality offers
Day 2 – Tuesday, 31st March 2020 – Hazlewood Castle – Residential
Getting better at getting better.
This day will be led by Andy Hind, consultant with over 30 years of educational experience, including headship, Ofsted, NCTL.
The day will explore key elements:
- The professional culture of a school
- A climate for deep professional thinking
- The capacity for improvement within any team
Day 3 – Wednesday, 1st April 2020 – Hazlewood Castle – Residential
Getting better at getting better.
This day will be facilitated by Ed Lott and Narinder Gill and will bring components from the first 2 days together – providing a forum and opportunity to consider your agenda
Day 4 – Wednesday, 3rd June 2020 – Wetherby Race Course, York Road, Wetherby, West Yorkshire, LS22 5EJ

Competency, consistency, character and compassion: spinning plates.
This day will be focused upon key coaching skills essential for all leaders.
Experts from the coaching world will be supporting this day and sharing clear strategies for professional and personal growth as a leader

The programme will kick off at The Bridge Inn, Walshford. The residential aspect will be based at Hazlewood Castle, near Leeds. The fourth day will be at Wetherby Race Course.

Please note that in the event of a cancellation the following terms will be applied:
Cancellations within two weeks of the first event: 50% charge; cancellations within 48 hrs of the event/no show: 100% charge. If delegates do not attend all four days, your school will still be charged the full amount.
With-in a month of the first day of the event, or with-in a month of the event, which ever applies.
