Effective Staff Development delivered by David Weston
Aims of the course
The standard for teachers’ professional development states that effective professional development should have a focus on improving and evaluating pupil outcomes, should be underpinned by robust evidence, should include collaboration and expert challenge and should be sustained over time. Most importantly however, it says professional development must be prioritised by school leadership. This one-day programme is designed to show Head Teachers how to create a high-impact, evidence-based ecosystem of teacher development. It will include advice and strategies including Performance Management, professional journals and monitoring to ensure staff have access to high-quality professional development.
This course will be led by David Weston. David is the Founder and Chief Exec of the Teacher Development Trust, the national charity for effective professional development in schools and colleges. He’s also the Chair of the Teachers’ Professional Development Expert Group at the UK Government’s Department for Education.
