The Middle Leaders programme will consist of two days and two twilights. It is suitable for subject and phase leaders and those aspiring to Senior Leadership. The course will allow delegates to form a supportive network group with colleagues who have similar roles.
Structure of the programme
Introductory Twilight – Introduction: forming a leadership network within the North Star Alliance. Group tasks: the coaching method, paired work; ‘Deepening the Discussion’ exercise; Self, Role Context Venn Diagram exercise; Inspiring the Group.
Core Day 1 – Ed Lott- Leadership Styles, the Emotionally Intelligent Leader, Use of Time Analysis. Team Basics, Building a High Performing Team. Team Assessment via the GRIP Analysis.
Twilight- Nikkie Beniams- 10-minute forums on Leadership journey so far. Agenda to be set from feedback arising from the previous sessions. Consider how to monitor impact of your leadership.
Core Day 2- Ed Lott- Distributed Leadership, Invitational Leadership. Dealing with the Difficult. Leading in the Self-Supporting School System. Next Steps in Leadership Development.
The programme will be delivered by Ed Lott and Nikkie Beniams. Nikkie is Head Teacher at Knayton CE School in Thirsk and a North Star SLE. Ed is an ex-headteacher and is a former National College for School Leadership Associate Leader with over thirty years experience in education and professional development.

The cost of the programme is £200 per delegate for North Star members (£250 non-members).
Please note that in the event of a cancellation the following terms will be applied:
Cancellations within two weeks of the first event: 50% charge; cancellations within 48 hrs of the event/no show: 100% charge. If delegates do not attend all three days, your school will still be charged the full amount.
