Middle Leaders Development Programme 2019-20

Course Description

This three-day programme is for all colleagues who take the lead on key-stage or wider whole-school initiatives – and are at the same time classroom-based, with substantial teaching commitments, ‘leading from the Middle’. It will establish the main building blocks of successful leadership, maximise skills and enhance effectiveness.

Training Objectives

Build a local network of reflective practitioners.
Investigate the core issues of effective school leadership.
Develop coaching skills and team-building.
Consider the implications of current developments in education.
Prepare aspiring school leaders for ‘next step’ promotion.

This programme was run very successfully in previous years with overwhelmingly positive feedback.

Learning Outcomes

Each participant will develop a clearer picture of their current role and responsibilities and their future professional needs; and will be enabled to articulate their contribution to their own school’s progress and also the wider development of their local school network. The course will also use the unifying vehicle of an individual ‘senior leadership focus’ (research option) to generate learning.

Course Delivery

The programme will be delivered by Ed Lott. Ed is an ex-headteacher and is a former National College for School Leadership Associate Leader with over thirty years’ experience in education and professional development. Full programme notes and online support are included.

The cost of the programme is £300 per delegate for North Star and Polaris members (£400 non-members).

Terms & Conditions

If your school attends an event which is not included in your package your school will be charged a “pay-as-you-go” rate of £75 per half day.

Unused CPD days are non-transferable and will NOT be refunded.

Please note that in the event of a cancellation the following terms will be applied:

Cancellations within two weeks of the first event: 50% charge; cancellations within 48 hrs of the event/no show: 100% charge. If delegates do not attend all three days, your school will still be charged the full amount.


With-in a month of the first day of the event, or with-in a month of the event, which ever applies.
