Inspire to Write delivered by Kelly Ashley
Explore quality texts and film clips which can be used to teach literacy in an inspiring, effective way which builds writing stamina and encourages writing for a real purpose
Aims of the course:
Part 1: The ‘why’: Consideration of pupils’ starting points – Which key skills need to be addressed/ consolidated? What can children already do well and what do they need to improve?
Part 2: The ‘what’: Revisiting the teaching sequence – How do we plan for learning? How do we foster links between reading, writing and spoken language?
Part 3: The ‘how’: Exploring resources – How can we use a range of texts and multi-media resources to engage and inspire writers? How can these be used throughout the teaching sequence? (Practical ideas and resources for KS1 and KS2 to be shared)
Part 4: Going the distance: Conditions for learning – How can we build pupils’ stamina for writing? How do we provide regular opportunities for pupils to write, across the curriculum? What might this look like?
